Great find on fellow photographer, Joe Proudman's blog. A nice glimpse into the future...from 1981.

After a morning of covering traffic accidents caused by people driving way too fast in the Tule Fog, I was asked to photograph Randel McGee and Groark the Dragon within 30 minutes of coming back to the office. It never ceases to suprise me how my work day can quickly change from tragedy to comedy.

I found an interesting blog via Strobist.com that focuses on crime scene photography.

It's always nice to see the tricks of the trade with other photography specialties.

The above photo was not an actual crime scene but a mock one I took during a disaster drill at West Hills Community College.

The Argus Bean Camera Goes Snowboarding

Posted by Apolinar Fonseca on 9:18 AM in , , , ,

A few months back I wrote about the Argus Bean digtal camera that I had bought at Best Buy. I had only posted a self portrait with entry and some people asked if I had more pictures to show.

Well, the day after Christmas my sister, cousin, his sister's son, Jonathon, and I went snowboarding. I ended taking the camera because I didn't want to wreck a more expensive one. Sorry I didn't get any action shots. I was too busy enjoying a powder day. But I did get pictures of us watching Jonathon while my cousin rode during the first half of the day.

I was quite pleased with the results. It handled taking pictures in the snow well. Even the camera's tiny on-camera flash filled in shadows better than I expected. The pictures are pretty much straight from the camera. No Photoshop toning at all. I thought a camera this cheap would have its exposure be thrown off by all the white.

The video wasn't too bad either. Although it gets wobbly when moving the camera around too fast.

All in all I'm pleased with the purchase of this camera. It's tough. I can take up to the mountains without fearing that I'll destroy it. Not too shabby for $60

The above video is from Getty Images' YouTube Channel, which I recently found. Good stuff. I wish I had known about it sooner.

These aren't necessarily my best photos I took in 2008 but they are my favorite. As always let me know what you think of them.
